Hi all!

First off, I'd like to let people know that you can currently upgrade your warrior items here.

Next, I'd like to detail some plans for upcoming events given the current circumstances we find ourselves under.

I'd very much like to avoid heavy coding edits until the DMM festival has been sorted. To that end, I'm not going to push for many changes - if any at all, to the code for the OFB festival coming mid-May.

Instead, I'm thinking that we reset valour points, adjust the caps (to favour PvE), and allow new purchases to be made for the two-weeks that the festival runs.
This would mean that held valour would be lost as well. If we do this, we'll give at least a week's warning.

You'll still get a few extra valour points for participating in PvP, but the PvE cap alone should suffice to buy all festival related goods at least once.

This isn't ideal, but it would require minimal coding and would ultimately be less disruptive to the upcoming fixes. The event will still include exploration events, magical plushies, and a slew of new items.

Additionally, I'm looking to release tier 6 & 7 warrior content around the release of the OFB festival. (Where Wandering Monsters is a tier 1 battleground, and Deadly Monsters is a tier 5 battleground - with deadlier monsters being somewhere between tier 5 - 6).

These would be permanent additions to the battleground roster that are designed for well-equipped warriors of at least the 20th level. This would come with a new tier of crystals, previously mentioned in the update notes, as "Superior" crystals.

At the same time, I'd also like to introduce "Broken" equipment, which serves as scrap-able items that drop frequently in various battlegrounds.

Generally speaking, if we do implement new tiers, expect the following to happen:
- Old recipes will remain the same, but materials for those recipes will be significantly more common.
- New recipes will require significantly more materials.
- This means that catching up to the current maximum power-level for warriors (essentially tier 5), will be significantly easier, whereas achieving tiers 6 & 7 will be much harder.

I'm in the planning stages right now, so feel free to ping me in discussion threads - if we can sort out details beforehand it'll save a lot of grief going forward.
Please Note: You may freely ping me.

Next up, I'd like to discuss a placeholder of sorts for the long-awaited achievements. Previously, we'd looked at overhauling quest & achievement systems to be more relevant, though per above, due to delays & expectations with coding, I'm thinking of introducing a new type of item which essentially acts as a trophy of sorts - akin to the Enchanted To Be Awesome Signet Ring - only extending to other careers.

If this ends up happening, you'll want to have a lot of FurCash and related materials from all villages.

And finally, in lieu of a dedicated PvP tournament (given we can't recode the matchmaking this year), I'm considering having a knock-out style tournament hosted by the community for players that would like to opt-in. No specifics yet, but I'm thinking something along the lines of best-of-three matches with gear swapping allowed between rounds. Winners will receive a "160%" Potency upgrade ticket, which can be exchanged with NPC-Traveler something, with spot prizes for participation.

Apologies for the incoherent post!

Nothing mentioned here is set in stone, and is just my initial impressions for the OFB festival!

    • I should add that I know that none of the stuff regarding the DMM event is Wisteria's fault, there isn't anything they can do about it and they probably find it even more frustrating than the userbase. It's just kinda disappointing, at this point I wouldn't care if I didn't get the pumpkin trophy or pumpkin guts if it'd mean we can have more coding work put into future events/features.

The community PvP tournament sounds interesting though. ^-^ And I'm sure all of the OFB items to collect will be beautiful as always.

    • I have crappy things going on irl right now so I apologise if this seems overly blunt, but I find it really worrying that the DMM event mishap is still messing up other events. I don't understand how it's so difficult to just give people their trophies and hand everyone some pumpkin guts. :x

anne216 Not all of us hated the PvP portion of the tourney, a lot of us really enjoyed it. The fact that some people might be immature and block/hate people over losing (I've not encountered this at all...as far as I know lol) shouldn't mean that those of us who do like it should miss out. :( Last year's tourney was my favourite event, I met so many great people through PvP.

Argent Some people have a huge amount of valor points saved up from participating in PvP over the past year. If the points aren't reset there isn't really any point in those people participating in the OFB event. Not to mention how deflated the prizes would end up with people able to buy a whole bunch of each.

    • I am pleased with most of this except the 160% potency price ticket. This can impact PVP even more and cause a bigger divide. It's like the Feast worker slot totems causing a bigger advantage for the winners. Please ensure that the prices do not allow for such rifts to occur. I see the text has a line through it but I wanted to voice my concerns nonetheless!

    • I am really unhappy about the "resetting valor points" possibility. Why? I get them so slowly because I don't fight much, so I'm saving up. If you reset them without compensation that's so unfair. What's the point of this even as a possibility?

It's purely opt-in for the few players that are interested in it (I know a few would appreciate a more structured tournament). I don't want to dedicate code or costs to it, so it'll all be managed manually. There won't be any trophies or exclusive rewards.

I can scrap valour points from PvP all together, however, but I was thinking of making valour point from PvP something like 5 for a win, 3 for a loss, with a maximum gain of 200 points from PvP. Win/Loss ratios would be irrelevant.

If there's trophies, you'll get it by simply claiming it. You won't have to do anything special - I'd rather the DMM festival fixes take priority and avoid coding work where possible.

It's not the most exciting method, but I think many players prefer trophies to largely show off they were around for a particular event.

    • =C I'm seriously bummed they'll be dropping Broken Weapons! I don't want to have an achievement just to be handed some lame broken item! I get warrior equipment drops rarely enough as it is, the idea of stacking even more weapons in my inventory fills me with dread. I've got a stack a mile high already for my 'to scrap' pile that never gets done.

I didn't participate last year, but I remember the difficulties of PvP last year. People couldn't find others to match up against and it seemed everyone preferred the convienence of PvE.

I'm looking forward to this year's event, and I think it's a great idea to dodge coding changes =)

    • I think the PVP should not be part of Tourney at all, that's what everyone hated last year, so why do it again this year? It's not necessary at all and only gives players grief and then the winners all end up being blocked and hated for beating so many players continuously , But that''s just my opinion the rest sounds OK though.

    • Speaking of crystals, can we uh, get a search option in inventories and stalls for them finally? Only storage has a crystal tab. Changing the url is the only way currently to search them and gets annoying real fast, lol.

...I also don't like the 160 potency idea. That just sounds like a strong gets stronger thing. We cant even get drops that high, if there has to be a ticket like that wouldn't 150% be more realistic? Rare but possible outside a ticket- not counting some event gear. *death glares my 150% junk rusted mace*

    • I dunno how I feel about the 160% potency ticket idea... The rest of it sounds nice but being as there are some warriors who naturally have super builds and are the BiS boys/girls of the site its kinda obvious who those tickets would go to and would further the gap between the elite and the regs. >-<

    • I'm worried about Broken weapons clogging up inventory and taking forever to scrap. Are they individual items like weapons or a stackable item like other materials? Since you don't want to do anything with coding I'm expecting just crappy weapons that can be scrapped :C

I actually think PvE focused OFB tourney could be really cool (though I was never around for the original but I've heard a lot of people hated it), so I think that's a good solution. Maybe even have a special OFB tourney BG with mobs that rewards more VP or something (not random drops pls...). Each Warrior costumed species + Minstrel (special boss a la vali/skul/parry king/tristain?) They could even have cute special names, like Knight of ______.

Canine: Knight of Strength (high strength, glass cannon)
Fox: Knight of Lightning (lightning attacks/high lightning resist)
Dragon: Knight of Flame (flame attacks/high fire resist)
Cat: Knight of Agility (high agility)
Horse: Knight of Endurance (high endurance and mitigation)
Rabbit: Knight of Speed (high speed, maybe does a lot of interrupt things maybe like hidden flame/freeze/etc, things that would benefit from high speed)
Rodent: Knight of Dark (dark damage/resist)
Minstrel: King of the Tourney (take them from the Challengers [I think] and buff them lots, or give them the new flowering armor/weapons because I feel like they'd like those since they like flowers so much!)

Knight of Frost could be the new Warrior (hopefully it fits the species XD) or something. Sorry for my brainspill.
