Hi all!

First off, I'd like to let people know that you can currently upgrade your warrior items here.

Next, I'd like to detail some plans for upcoming events given the current circumstances we find ourselves under.

I'd very much like to avoid heavy coding edits until the DMM festival has been sorted. To that end, I'm not going to push for many changes - if any at all, to the code for the OFB festival coming mid-May.

Instead, I'm thinking that we reset valour points, adjust the caps (to favour PvE), and allow new purchases to be made for the two-weeks that the festival runs.
This would mean that held valour would be lost as well. If we do this, we'll give at least a week's warning.

You'll still get a few extra valour points for participating in PvP, but the PvE cap alone should suffice to buy all festival related goods at least once.

This isn't ideal, but it would require minimal coding and would ultimately be less disruptive to the upcoming fixes. The event will still include exploration events, magical plushies, and a slew of new items.

Additionally, I'm looking to release tier 6 & 7 warrior content around the release of the OFB festival. (Where Wandering Monsters is a tier 1 battleground, and Deadly Monsters is a tier 5 battleground - with deadlier monsters being somewhere between tier 5 - 6).

These would be permanent additions to the battleground roster that are designed for well-equipped warriors of at least the 20th level. This would come with a new tier of crystals, previously mentioned in the update notes, as "Superior" crystals.

At the same time, I'd also like to introduce "Broken" equipment, which serves as scrap-able items that drop frequently in various battlegrounds.

Generally speaking, if we do implement new tiers, expect the following to happen:
- Old recipes will remain the same, but materials for those recipes will be significantly more common.
- New recipes will require significantly more materials.
- This means that catching up to the current maximum power-level for warriors (essentially tier 5), will be significantly easier, whereas achieving tiers 6 & 7 will be much harder.

I'm in the planning stages right now, so feel free to ping me in discussion threads - if we can sort out details beforehand it'll save a lot of grief going forward.
Please Note: You may freely ping me.

Next up, I'd like to discuss a placeholder of sorts for the long-awaited achievements. Previously, we'd looked at overhauling quest & achievement systems to be more relevant, though per above, due to delays & expectations with coding, I'm thinking of introducing a new type of item which essentially acts as a trophy of sorts - akin to the Enchanted To Be Awesome Signet Ring - only extending to other careers.

If this ends up happening, you'll want to have a lot of FurCash and related materials from all villages.

And finally, in lieu of a dedicated PvP tournament (given we can't recode the matchmaking this year), I'm considering having a knock-out style tournament hosted by the community for players that would like to opt-in. No specifics yet, but I'm thinking something along the lines of best-of-three matches with gear swapping allowed between rounds. Winners will receive a "160%" Potency upgrade ticket, which can be exchanged with NPC-Traveler something, with spot prizes for participation.

Apologies for the incoherent post!

Nothing mentioned here is set in stone, and is just my initial impressions for the OFB festival!

I would like to add that I would be grateful for a division based on ELO or perhaps your (harder) monsters defeated, not necessarily your level. Some people have horrible build/low experience with combat systems that manage to slowly level the villager while not using the strategies required of the higher level areas.

    • Admin-Wisteria How about that 160% ticket (or little coupons "worth" 10% or maybe a socket each) be available by spending the Valor Points that everyone can earn whether they choose to PvP or PvE?

I just think the idea of little jagged pieces of paper with "coupon" scrawled on them in the Traveler's handwriting would be the cutest thing ever.

Maybe coupons can drop... and some of the coupons aren't even real/redeemable (like the pristine tickets and dirty tickets). ie. "Traveler's 10% Coupon" ans "Troveler's 10% Coopon".

Just want to express I like the idea of the coupons - just not for those who are already titans. :)

I'll make sure we've got an announcement well ahead of time if we end up needing to clear valour points. I'll also make sure there's some interesting stock to spend them on - just hang on to 'em for now.

Admin-Mat does most of the work with custom items (and I don't have access to the email they're sent to), hence the delays in that department.

ELO system outright won't work due to a small player base; there's very little point trying to get it work at this stage unfortunately. That said, if we've the numbers for a manually hosted tournament we'll look at splitting the competition up into divisions.

    • Lucid That's true now that I think about it. I loved QP Fest and I think that was the most hated.

Think the ELO idea is great! I think matching players based on element is a good idea too, because it's really equipment that seals the deal opposed to level. Although your lvl 22 is intimidating I must say. I liked it as a side thing but not a main.

Glad to hear that! Forgot to cut off the message to the part left for Wisteria but good to know some hardcore players are in the same boat there.

    • Alright. Feels like a shame as I really didn't enjoy the OFB event but I do understand your situation! It's smart of you not to bury yourselves in more complicated code issues before you've solved old ones. And I do really love the idea that we should be able to buy everything with just PvE points. Thanks!

    • RedlaSunShowers029 To be fair, the majority of people seemed to hate almost every event last year. :x

I just really wish they'd had the chance to split it into separate groups, maybe by current ELO or something, once you get past a certain ELO you get bumped into the higher group, if you're having a hard time in that group and your ELO falls you go back to the lower one after a little while. Idk if that would work or if there are glaring flaws I'm not seeing, either way it's a moot point, maybe next year they could think of something.

I hate being one-shotted too, I buffed up my armour with endurance crystals and my shields with resistance crystals to prevent it from happening so much. :P I wish more people enjoyed PvP as much as I do, I guess it's just not for everyone.

P.S. I also am against the 160% potency thing for a prize.

    • Lucid From what I saw, it was a majority group who hated PVP. I know I did. I wasn't one to rage or scream about it, but if there's a player in there who's just able to one-shot you it takes out the appeal, y'know? I much prefer close battles to predictable ones.

Also seconding the potency ticket being a really bad idea to increase the gap there. If anything, I'd go with Pendulum 's suggestion on certain number of points opposed to leaderboard.

One other thing I'd want to know is if there would be less of a point difference with the items in the shop? I know that very few people managed to reach their goals for the event which lead to frustration. Even with the explore events, it was very difficult to find some of the plushes. Know we're not at the OD fest yet, but I'd also say that event pets should remain breedable for a given amount of time, hopefully with some increased odds. I remember that being an issue during the OD event. ^^

Admin-Wisteria pinging you here for the above, and also wanted to know if there's been any updates regarding custom content? I recognize that the main artist is trying to catch up but figured I'd ask. ^^

"This means that catching up to the current maximum power-level for warriors (essentially tier 5), will be significantly easier, whereas achieving tiers 6 & 7 will be much harder."

As far I understand it, they're planning on making crystals a lot easier to craft (by making it easier to get the materials for them) so that people who are a little behind can catch up and have an easier time in the harder battlegrounds. The more difficult battlegrounds they're talking about adding will be permanent ones for people who have spent a lot on upgrading their equipment and grinding to get all of the stuff to have more of a challenge in (they won't be limited event battlegrounds so anyone will be able to get there eventually).

    • "Well Equipped Warriors" Sounds like more making it impossible for anyone who didn't get lucky during one or two events, just like every current event is.. It's a headache inducing situation right now, can't we somehow make it possible for players to actually get anywhere in the warrior career without getting an item that has a 1% drop that they could only get from having an item released a year ago that had a 1% drop .. It really makes me not want to play anymore when I can't get anywhere at all through effort or skill.

    • Personally I am really looking forward to the pvp aspect of the tourney and expect it will turn out to be a lot of fun. Since the 160% ticket will likely be an issue and not happening, maybe the rewards could be materials to craft some of the newer gear you mentioned. It wouldn't put the winners ahead in any capacity that couldn't already be farmed with time and effort. Pve has gotten very dull and while making this event a grindfest might please some I see no reason to not include pvp for those who enjoy it. Rewards should be rewarding but also exclusively beneficial to the warrior career so that people not focusing on this career won't be left out just because they don't want to pvp.
