I just noticed that the Rose Breasted "Cockatiel" is actually a Gallah?? Speaking of which, have you ever gotten to work with one?
Oh no I didn't know that! The only way my old cat would get ahold of a bird though is if it gets low enough for her to do so - she's obese, old, and lazy. She doesn't care for anything that isn't petting her or isn't cat treats. But I still wouldn't even trust her around a bird, she gets the case of random kitten energy so it's safe to just wait until I can claim my cats back so she can have a bird or two :p
Wow! That's a large number but I assume the growth would happen from people thinking birds make good christmas pets? It seems to be a common trend, but pets aren't gifts by any means. Its hurt the most when I see people abandoning puppies and kittens not realizing how much care they need -- but I also didn't think how that could also work for birds and reptiles. Hm, I wish people who stop with the pets = gifts mentality.
How many birds do you have in total? If you don't mind me asking... My mom wanted a bird for awhile but i'm afraid my cats (that live with her sadly, I miss them bunches) wouldn't much care for birds. Well I know for sure my youngest will hate birds, not to mention my mom keeps her house too cold :( oh well. Maybe in a few years is what I tell her hehe...
