Profile description

I enjoy picking out super cheap ramen flavours and instant soups. When I'm not making abominations like gravy pasta, my cooking's actually pretty good lol

Re-enjoying: Ajin, Harry Potter, and Gravity Falls

    • Don't worry about how long/short it is, it's nice when people message me!!

I hate responsive design but have accepted the fact people thrive from it :'>

Hng I'm just weird about it - I use my phone to message/make calls -
Maybe from time to time check a website for their number/location
Example for like going out to dinner, finding a place I need to go...

I feel that websites.. are best on mobile :'D
Especially ones like these, portfolios and such
You should view them on a big screen!

Again though that's all my personal preference, call me old fashion aha
      //ignore my tangents

I don't see Furvilla like animal crossing that much?? It is just my "happy place" game
When I need to break from the world - Furvilla is like that too but when I want to interact with real people :'D

IF you don't like simulation it's probably not for you aha! My friend told me that once >w<

Gah that's too fancy for me! I'm just taking Information Technology/Multimedia..
I already have a cert IV and Diploma in stuff but everyone tells me to study while I'm young :'D

I have been looking for jobs in Data Management/Administration etc
Though I already am semi-working as a freelance profile creator for like 5 sites - and I'm front-end for one too!
but that's for another time! Won't bore you with my lame life :'D

Your life sounds so fancy ha!
I want mine to get back on track sometime soon, it would be lovely.

What got you into that field? Was it something you've wanted as a kid or just got into it somehow? o:

    • I have made others in the past.. this one aimed to be clean and responsive
Since I found like 7/10 people either use mobile half the time or all of it
Like to think it's going okay haha!

The background is from Animal Crossing actually
I thought it was a nice little feature
I'm always horrible with picking images T^T

Naw well that's not a bad thing is it??
Getting a part-time job to turn into something greater actually sounds fantastic!

Is the position for some graphic design orientated? OR are you hiding other magical talents?
      //perks up

    • Hee, well... I've been on Gaia since July of 2004 and it was pretty much my online home up until Gary took over and I felt compelled to leave, lol. I've seen a lot happen over the years. Some good, some bad. I'm not an expert by any means, but there was a time when I was able to recognize EVERY item on site. Those days are gone though. :(

In some cases, the users were definitely at fault because some nasty things were said (and done; people made threats to Gary and his family along side of sabotaging his profiles on a few sites which I think is terrible), but in other cases it was also bad moderation. At the risk of sounding like an asshole, certain mods were pretty high on the ass-kissing tier and would go out of their way to lash out at people for expressing mild dislike of the direction the site was going in, yet would let others run rampant and be complete dicks to people just because they defended Gary and what he was doing. There's one mod I actually have a personal grudge against because of that, whom I've fought with on numerous occasions because of their terrible moderation skills. There was one user in particular, can't remember his username now, who'd go around to complaint threads and verbally insult people and call them names or tell them to leave the site. And he always got away with it and never got warnings. On the contrary, anyone who pointed out that he was (very obviously) brown-nosing or who disagreed with him (no matter how politely) would get warnings for "harassment." Eventually, a good amount of people ended up blocking him because he was annoying as hell and no one wanted the trouble he always brought. Either that or they were FORCED to block him, like I was, under the threat of being banned if we didn't... Can you imagine? That's why I have a grudge against that particular mod, and why I've fought with them countless times. That user was allowed to go around saying all kinds of shit to people and upsetting them, but the moment we stood up to him we were threatened with the ban hammer.

I probably sound like I'm full of nothing but complaints but I promise you, I do have some good memories, lol. It's just... there's still a bad taste left from what Gary did and it's taking time to get over. Did you know that the marketing team actually thought it was logical and acceptable to put items in the cash shop costing between $1000-$20,000 USD? Yes, you're reading that right. Twenty. Thousand. American dollars. (Keep in mind that Gaia, like FV, is a lot of teenagers, many of which don't have jobs or disposable income.)

Like... ???????????????? Who actually sat there and thought, "yes, this is good." Talk about money hungry. > _ >
(Even worse, there WERE actually people who bought those items...)

    • Oh my goodness, your villagers are so precious!
Wonderful painties you have here c:

      - lowkey checks in on your links too -

    • Oh yeah, management was bad for the past few years... Gary took over and got rid of a lot of the staff that cared about the community, brought in his own marketing team to replace the one the site already had, and things just went... So wrong. And to make matters worse, when Gary finally up and left, Lanzer made a public announcement that Gaia wasn't doing so well bill-wise because Gary left a lot of unpaid stuff.

The reason you're getting vague answers from other Gaians (especially if asking them on-site) is because Gary was a hush-hush topic on Gaia, and if you mentioned his name or criticized him you could find yourself permabanned. But since we're not ON Gaia discussing this, it's fine to give more detail. We all kind of nicknamed him Goldemort on-site, 'cause the way we weren't allowed to talk to him kind of reminded us all of the whole "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" thing from Harry Potter lol.

Gaia's actually changed hands a few times, but Gary was honestly the worst one we've had to date. Completely changing the focus to GaiaCash and opening up additional cash shops that we didn't need, breaking old promises to never re-release old donation items, trying to make that dumb 18+ sister site that no one wanted (it died after like 6 months lmao), and just generally not giving a shit about the community or the happiness of the userbase because the die-hards were willing to buy into whatever BS he cranked out next. The community split pretty hard too; a lot of people were unhappy about the shift to cash and were attacked by others who said things like "if you can't pay then you shouldn't be on the site anyway" and fights broke out. I even got a strike against my account for getting into it with one of those users, simply because I pointed out (albeit rather heatedly) that the focus of the site was never the cash shop, and that people shouldn't be expected to pay 24/7 just to be able to use the core features of the site.

…It was bad. D: But yeah, Gaians are cynical right now because our feedback has been ignored for the past few years. But now that Lanzer's back, we'll see if things get better. I still have some fragments of hope.

    • To add to my prior comment; the site cap when I joined in 2004, and up until Gary took over as CEO, was originally just above the 2 billion gold range, because back then, 2 billion gold was considered near impossible to reach. Prices on Gaia were never, ever meant to reach the trillion range. Cash shop items were also much less frequent, releases from the cash shop would be about tri-weekly to monthly, and the items were MUCH higher in quality and detail than what you see now. Pushing the artists to pump out so many new items every day really caused the quality to suffer.

    • Ohhhhh, gosh lol. GaiaOnline is recovering from a previous CEO completely wrecking the economy. From 2003 to about... 2012? 2013? Gold Generation was a bannable offense, because the original owners of the site felt it created an unstable economy and wasn't fair to every player on the site, so even though there WERE sites that let you pay real money to get gold in your account, if you were caught using them, you'd get insta-banned. But... Gary Schofield was the CEO that just left, and in the few years he was CEO of the site, everthing went to Hell in a handbasket.

Gold Generators were placed into the cash shop, and for the super low price of about 99¢ you could generate up to some millions of gold in a single click. Naturally, people loved this idea, but didn't realize that pushing more gold into the economy would make everything skyrocket in price. But, staff didn't care, gold gens were raking in the $$$ so they let them exist, and as time went on, the payouts became higher and higher. Last I'd heard, a single click from a gold generator could grant TRILLIONS of gold. So, because Gold was super common on the site, it essentially became "worthless" and even gold shop prices went into the billions for common items.

It's a mess. But, the good news is that one of the original owners is back in charge, so measures are being put into place to slowly phase out the gold gens from existence and also to repair the wrecked economy. However... So many promises were broken under the last CEO and the focus was so heavy on spending IRL money, that a lot of people left and won't come back so I really don't know how successful the efforts will be to straighten things out. Even if things do go back to the way they were economy-wise, the site has such a negative reputation now that I don't know if people would be willing to give the site another chance.

    • Thanks! My persona, there's about four other painties waiting to be uploaded once the artwork is done.
