I'll never suggest things that would be considered dangerous (unless you're so clumsy you'll set your house on fire burning a catcher but that would be on you :P)
Technically, it's comparable to cleaning your dinner table.
If you use an old, dirty rag, there's a way bigger chance you get sick from the rag's bacteria.
However, 1) some people might have built up a very strong resistance anyways so it doesn't matter and 2) some people have such a weak resistance that it doesn't matter if they use a clean rag or not. They'll get sick either way
Because they capture bad spirits (not dreams. It's the spirits that mess with your brain that cause the bad dreams usually).
And people who just hang them around for fun, usually have no clue what's trapped in there.
I highly suggest cleansing your dreamcatcher 8^)
Or, you could buy/make multiple, and burn the one you're using every now and then (like, once every two weeks depending on how many restless nights you've had), and put up a fresh, cleansed one.
Of course not everyone has that many bad spirits around them, so it won't be dangerous for all. But generally speaking, they are more dangerous because people use dreamcatchers more often than they use the boards.

That's so strange I hope its not getting at other people because I brought it up.
You mentioned numbness, I forgot to mention when I was being grabbed I felt a weird electrical numbness all over. It faded once it let go. I'm also on mobile in the living room because I don't want to be alone so I can't get on my PC.
